Adient (NYSE: ADNT) announced the launch of ModuTec, a modular seat design solution aimed at simplifying the automotive seat manufacturing process and enabling higher levels of automation.
The Plymouth, Michigan-based automotive seating company said ModuTec moves seat module assembly offline before sequencing it into the main just-in-time production line, reducing assembly time from minutes to seconds.
The modular approach is designed to enhance assembly efficiency, simplify production workflows, reduce floor space requirements, and enable automation capabilities. Traditional vehicle seat manufacturing relies on complex, labor-intensive integrated processes that ModuTec aims to streamline.
"ModuTec will fundamentally change how seats are made going forward. By balancing all aspects of cost efficiency, engineering criteria and manufacturing best practices, ModuTec is a bold step in the direction the industry needs today and into tomorrow," said Griffin Brown, Adient's vice president of VAVE, Innovation, Mechanisms BU, Americas.
According to the company, the system also enables component integration, improves serviceability for dealer upgrades, and allows for enhanced seat comfort features.
Adient operates approximately 200 manufacturing and assembly plants worldwide with more than 65,000 employees across 29 countries. The company produces automotive seating systems and components for major original equipment manufacturers globally.
The announcement was made through a company press release statement.
