Western Alliance addresses credit relationship amid peer concerns

October 16, 2025 10:17 AM EDT

Western Alliance Bancorporation (NYSE: WAL) disclosed details about a credit facility following investor inquiries related to a peer bank's regulatory filing.

The bank maintains a note finance revolving credit facility with Cantor Group V, LLC, secured by pledged commercial real estate loans and cash proceeds. Western Alliance Bank filed a lawsuit in August alleging fraud by the borrower for failing to provide collateral loans in first position.

The company stated it has evaluated existing collateral and believes it covers the obligation based on "as-is" appraisals. The facility includes a limited guaranty and full guaranty from two high net worth individuals under circumstances including fraud.

Western Alliance reported its total criticized assets decreased from June 30, 2025 levels, as previously projected. The company reaffirmed its guidance and 2025 outlook from its second quarter financial results released July 17, 2025.

The disclosure came in response to investor questions about another bank's 8-K filing, though Western Alliance did not specify which peer institution prompted the inquiries.
