USANA Health Sciences Inc. (NYSE: USNA) announced its vitamin D supplement earned the ConsumerLab.com Seal of Approval after passing comprehensive testing for potency, purity and label accuracy.
The Salt Lake City-based nutrition company's vitamin D supplement was required to deliver 100% of claimed amounts of vitamin D3 and vitamin K while demonstrating proper disintegration and bioavailability to receive the certification.
"This isn't just a win for our product—it's a win for consumers who deserve the very best," said Brent Neidig, USANA's Chief Commercial Officer, according to the company's press release.
The supplement provides 50 mcg (2000 IU) of vitamin D per tablet, which the company states is more than four times the current recommendation. USANA claims the product helps with development and maintenance of bones and teeth and aids in calcium and phosphorus absorption.
"With 2000 IU of vitamin D3 in every tablet, this formula is built on science to support bone strength, immune defense, and nutrient absorption," said Dr. Kathryn Armstrong, USANA's chief scientific officer.
The company referenced statistics indicating approximately 42% of adults in the United States are considered vitamin D deficient. ConsumerLab.com provides independent testing and certification for nutritional supplements and health products.
USANA manufactures supplements in an FDA-registered facility and has been providing nutrition and lifestyle products for more than 30 years.
