Twilio Inc. (NYSE: TWLO) announced a partnership with KPN Netherlands to enable Rich Communication Services business messaging across all major mobile operators in the Netherlands. The collaboration was announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The partnership establishes nationwide RCS Business Messaging coverage in the Netherlands, supported by Google's RCS for Business platform. RCS combines traditional SMS capabilities with interactive features including verified sender identity, images, carousels and action buttons.
The deployment enables brand onboarding and registration across Android devices, with expanded device support including iOS expected in 2026. Businesses can add RCS as a messaging channel alongside SMS and MMS without code changes, with automatic fallback to SMS when needed.
KPN provides telecommunications and IT services in the Netherlands and plays a central role in the country's digital infrastructure. The company has operated as the leading telecommunications provider in the Netherlands for nearly 140 years.
Through Twilio's platform, businesses can access engagement data including read receipts and reach customers through the native messaging app. The partnership positions the Netherlands as one of Europe's newest fully enabled RCS for Business markets.
"Nationwide operator coverage is a significant step forward for RCS for Business in the Netherlands," said David Copsey, RVP of International Wholesale & Carrier Relations at Twilio. "Together with KPN and Google, we are creating the foundation for large-scale adoption, giving brands the opportunity to engage millions of consumers with secure, branded and interactive messaging as device support continues to expand."
The information is based on a press release statement from Twilio.
