SolarEdge Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: SEDG) announced its first commercial battery installations in Germany with its CSS-OD commercial storage system. The company received over 150 orders totaling more than 15 megawatt-hours in the initial weeks following the product launch, according to a company statement.

The CSS-OD system combines a 102.4 kWh battery cabinet with a 50kW inverter and can scale up to 1 MWh per site. The system is designed for both indoor and outdoor commercial and industrial solar installations and integrates with existing SolarEdge photovoltaic systems.

The first dozen installations are operational across Germany. One installation is at WG Solar Concept GmbH headquarters in Nufringen, Baden-Württemberg, where two CSS-OD systems store energy from an existing 280 kWp SolarEdge rooftop solar system.

"The market response to the CSS-OD has been exciting, creating a strong new revenue stream that taps into our leading C&I solar business," said Naama Ohana, Chief Commercial & Industrial Division at SolarEdge.

Nils Rufle, Managing Director at WG Solar Concept GmbH, stated that the CSS-OD system enables the company to power 95% of its energy needs, including heat pumps and electric vehicles.

The system is controlled through SolarEdge's ONE for C&I energy management platform and targets the European commercial self-consumption market as countries move away from net metering policies.
