Rapid7 Inc. (NASDAQ: RPD) announced an expanded partnership with Microsoft to develop managed detection and response services integrated with Microsoft's security ecosystem. The collaboration will combine Rapid7's security operations expertise with Microsoft Defender products.
The partnership introduces MDR for Microsoft, a service that provides managed detection and response capabilities across endpoints, cloud, identity, and email systems within Microsoft environments. The service combines artificial intelligence-driven insights with human security expertise for organizations using Microsoft security products.
"Many of Rapid7's managed detection and response customers already rely on the Microsoft Defender suite of products," said Corey Thomas, CEO at Rapid7. "With this partnership, these organizations, and future ones, will benefit by combining Microsoft's scale and innovation with Rapid7's AI-native operations platform and extensive SOC expertise."
The integrated approach aims to provide faster threat detection and response capabilities by combining Microsoft's telemetry and analytics with Rapid7's threat expertise. The service is designed to help organizations manage compliance and security operations across their Microsoft-based infrastructure.
Rapid7 plans to introduce the dedicated Microsoft Defender service and integrated detection capabilities in early 2026. The Boston-based cybersecurity company serves more than 11,000 customers globally and specializes in threat detection and exposure management services.
The partnership represents Rapid7's strategy to integrate with existing customer technology environments, particularly those already invested in Microsoft's security ecosystem. Additional joint initiatives between the companies are expected to follow the initial service launch.
