Omada Health launches GLP-1 Flex Care for employer obesity programs

Omada Health (NASDAQ: OMDA) announced GLP-1 Flex Care, a program allowing employers to support employee access to GLP-1 obesity medications without directly covering medication costs. Under the program, employees purchase medications independently through cash-pay channels while receiving clinical oversight from Omada.

The San Francisco-based virtual care provider said the offering includes clinical evaluation, prescribing, and ongoing medical guidance for GLP-1 medications. Members receive support with titration management, side effects, nutrition counseling, and discontinuation assistance while purchasing medications directly.

"Employers shouldn't have to choose between providing the medication and obesity care their workforce needs to be healthy and protecting their bottom line," said Wei-Li Shao, President of Omada Health. "GLP-1 Flex Care removes that tradeoff."

Omada reported that its GLP-1 care program showed 67% medication persistence rates at one year compared to 47-49% in published benchmarks. Members who continued medication achieved 18.4% average weight loss versus 11.9% in comparable studies, according to the company's 12-month analysis.

The company stated it has supported more than 150,000 members on GLP-1 medications across various employer benefit designs. Some employers provide broad GLP-1 coverage for obesity while others use selective coverage criteria or no coverage.

Thomas Tsang, Chief Medical Officer at Omada Health, said the company's research showed members who paired GLP-1 medication with Omada's care model maintained weight loss for 12 months on average after discontinuing medication.

GLP-1 Flex Care will be available to employers beginning later in 2026, according to the press release.
