Okta Inc. (NASDAQ: OKTA) announced new platform capabilities designed to secure AI agents and combat fraud through what the company calls an "identity security fabric."
The company introduced Okta for AI Agents, planned for early access in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, with general availability in phase two of fiscal 2027. The service integrates AI agents into centralized identity management systems for lifecycle security controls.
Key features include Identity Security Posture Management for discovering AI agents and security risks, Universal Directory for managing AI agent identities, and Cross App Access, a new protocol that standardizes secure connections between AI agents and applications.
Cross App Access has garnered support from companies including Automation Anywhere, Amazon Web Services, Box, Google Cloud, Salesforce, and others. The protocol is currently available in early access within the Okta Platform.
"Cross App Access takes that principle even further and represents the next step toward making it more secure and seamless for AI agents to connect across systems," said Sunil Agrawal, chief information security officer at Glean.
Okta also announced plans for Verifiable Digital Credentials, scheduled for fiscal 2027 availability. The platform will enable organizations to issue and verify tamper-proof digital credentials like government IDs and employment records. A Digital ID verification feature supporting mobile driver's licenses is planned for early access in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026.
The announcement comes as Okta research indicates 91% of organizations already use AI agents, while only 10% have strategies for managing non-human identities. Gartner predicts that by 2027, identity fabric principles will prevent 85% of new attacks.
The information is based on a company press release statement.
