NASDAQ and AWS expand partnership for capital markets platform

September 25, 2025 5:48 AM EDT

Nasdaq Inc. (NASDAQ: NDAQ) and Amazon Web Services announced an expansion of their strategic partnership to offer Nasdaq Calypso as a fully managed service on AWS infrastructure. The capital markets and treasury management platform will be delivered as a cloud-based managed service, with AWS providing the underlying infrastructure and Nasdaq managing the technology.

Nasdaq Calypso enables financial institutions to process front-to-back-office workflows, manage risk, and meet regulatory obligations. The managed service model eliminates the need for institutions to maintain platform infrastructure, allowing for faster deployment and seamless upgrades.

"Market participants face an urgent need to embrace innovation, regulatory change and industry-wide connectivity at scale but are increasingly constrained by complex and fragmented legacy architecture," said Magnus Haglind, Head of Capital Markets Technology at Nasdaq.

The platform deployment offers institutions accelerated technology modernization, standardized implementation with regular updates, enhanced operational efficiency, and access to Nasdaq's data management capabilities for AI-powered analytics. The service provides a unified environment for managing trading, risk, margin, and collateral workflows.

According to the company, Nasdaq's technology is used by 97% of global systematically important banks, half of the world's top 25 stock exchanges, 35 central banks and regulatory authorities, and 3,800 clients across the financial services industry.

The expansion builds on the existing partnership between Nasdaq and AWS across Nasdaq's suite of capital markets and regulatory technology platforms. Financial institutions are increasingly adopting managed services platforms as they seek to modernize infrastructure while maintaining mission-critical operations.
