Mercury Marine introduces 425hp V10 Verado outboard engine

Mercury Marine, a division of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC), announced the launch of a new V10 425hp Verado outboard engine and an enhanced version of its V10 350hp model.

The 425hp model weighs 254 pounds less than a 450hp competitor and accelerates from 0-30 mph three seconds faster on a 26-foot, 5,000-pound center-console boat with heavy load, according to Mercury's testing. The engine includes a 150-amp alternator and operates 22% quieter at cruise than a 450hp competitor.

The enhanced 350hp model delivers 2.7 mph higher top speed than a 350hp competitor in light load testing and accelerates 4 seconds faster from 0-30 mph in heavy load configuration. The upgraded engine produces four times the alternator output at cruise compared to a 350hp competitor and operates 40% quieter at cruise.

"These new V10 Verado engines reflect our commitment to giving boaters exactly what they've asked for: greater performance with the same smooth, refined experience they expect from Mercury," said John Buelow, Mercury Marine president.

Both engines feature 26-inch center-to-center mounting for repowering boats originally equipped with L6 Verado or competitive outboards. Digital Throttle & Shift comes standard on both models, with optional Joystick Piloting available.

The new engines are available through Mercury dealers and Repower Centers alongside the current 400hp model. Mercury Marine, headquartered in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, manufactures recreational marine propulsion engines.
