Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVL) announced two new products for its connectivity portfolio: the Alaska E 3.2T protocol-aware retimer and a second-generation Alaska A 1.6T active electrical cable (AEC) DSP. Both products are currently sampling to customers, according to a company press release.

The Alaska E 3.2T retimer delivers 3.2 terabits per second of aggregate bandwidth through 16 lanes of 224G PAM4 connectivity. It supports Ethernet, UALink and ESUN protocols and is designed for on-board and backplane applications in AI rack architectures. The device offers 45dB or greater insertion loss compensation.

The second-generation Alaska A 1.6T AEC DSP moves to a 3nm manufacturing node from the previous 5nm process. The chip operates at 12.8 watts in a 12mm x 14mm package and claims eight watts of power savings compared to prior 5nm designs. It supports copper cable reaches exceeding six meters, which Marvell says doubles the reach of its first-generation product. The device supports multiple data rates ranging from 50G to 1.6T per port.

Both devices are integrated into Marvell's Reliant interconnect telemetry platform, which the company says provides real-time monitoring and optimization capabilities.

Xi Wang, senior vice president and general manager of the Connectivity Business Group at Marvell, said the expanded Alaska portfolio delivers "optimized 200G/lane retimer solutions across boards, backplanes and active electrical cables."

Market research firm LightCounting's founder and CEO Vladimir Kozlov stated that the AI scale-up networking market is projected to exceed $50 billion by 2030, driven by transitions to rack-scale architectures and 224G signaling.

Marvell is displaying the Alaska portfolio at OCP Global Summit 2026. Amphenol and Molex are among the companies that have provided supporting statements regarding compatibility with the new devices.
