Fortinet Inc. (NASDAQ: FTNT) announced the launch of its Secure AI Data Center solution, which the company describes as an end-to-end security framework for artificial intelligence infrastructures. The solution includes the new FortiGate 3800G firewall designed for data center environments.
The FortiGate 3800G features NP7 and SP5 ASICs with 400 GbE connectivity, targeting high-performance data center applications. According to Fortinet's specifications, the device delivers 800 Gbps firewall throughput, 210 Gbps IPsec VPN performance, and supports 200 million concurrent sessions.
The Secure AI Data Center solution provides security capabilities across multiple layers, including network segmentation, encrypted traffic inspection, and protection for large language models. The framework incorporates features such as prompt injection protection, data leakage prevention, and quantum-safe security measures including Post-Quantum Cryptography and Quantum Key Distribution.
"AI data centers demand both massive performance and deep protection," said Nirav Shah, Senior Vice President of Products and Solutions at Fortinet. "Our Secure AI Data Center solution unifies those capabilities, combining ASIC-powered firewalls like the FortiGate 3800G with advanced protection for data, applications and LLMs."
The solution integrates with Fortinet's Security Fabric management platform and includes application security features for AI models and APIs. Fortinet states the framework reduces power consumption by 69% compared to traditional approaches, though the comparison methodology was not detailed.
Monolithic Power Systems has implemented the solution in their AI environment. "The Fortinet Secure AI Data Center solution gives us the visibility, performance, and protection we need to operate high-density GPU clusters with confidence," said Huy Ly, Head of Global IT Security at Monolithic Power Systems.
The announcement includes performance comparisons with competitors including Palo Alto Networks, Check Point, and Cisco systems, based on publicly available specifications according to Fortinet's press release.
