AutoZone board approves Rhodes transition to non-executive chairman

AutoZone Inc. (NYSE: AZO) announced that its board of directors approved the transition of William C. Rhodes III from executive chairman to chairman, effective January 2026.
Following the transition, Rhodes will receive compensation according to the company's standard policies for non-employee directors. He will also receive $250,000 annually in immediately vested restricted stock units for his chairman role.
The board approved the leadership change on October 8, 2025, according to a company statement.
