Oil, Select Stocks on Watch on News of Hugo Chavez Death
Investors are watching a number of stocks and asset classes on news Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez has died at the age of 58. The news was announced Tuesday afternoon by Vice President Nicolas Maduro. Chavez announced he had cancer in 2011 and most recently sought treatment in Cuba.
In addition to tonight's Chavez news, on February 8, 2013 the Venezuelan government announced its intention to devalue its currency (bolivar fuerte).
