Toronto Public Library Workers Reach Tentative Agreement

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- After three months of collective bargaining, the Toronto Public Library Workers Union – CUPE 4948 and the Toronto Public Library reached a tentative agreement early Monday morning.

“We’re happy to have reached a tentative agreement that reflects the needs of our entire membership,” said Brandon Haynes, president of CUPE 4948. “Our bargaining committee worked around the clock to secure a deal that recognizes the vital work our members do every day and makes important gains for library workers. We look forward to presenting it to our members for ratification.”

The union will not disclose specific details of the tentative agreement until CUPE 4948 members have had the opportunity to review its contents and vote on the agreement.

CUPE 4948 represents approximately 2,300 Toronto Public Library full-time and part-time workers, including librarians, library assistants, pages, other frontline and support staff who provide essential public services at 100 library branches across the city.
