Polar, the AI Browser That Does Real Work, Raises $5.7M
The seed round, led by Madrona, backs the top-performing AI browser, capable of running long, multi-step web tasks end to end
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Polar, the AI browser that automates the tedious parts of knowledge work, today announced it has raised $5.7 million in seed funding led by Madrona, with participation from angel investors including former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke and Modal founder Erik Bernhardsson.
Polar operates the web the way a person does, clicking, typing, and navigating the sites its users already work in, logged in as them. Where the first wave of AI browsers stopped at answering questions and summarizing tabs, Polar takes on long, multi-step tasks and runs them start to finish, from a few minutes to several hours. It has completed tasks for over fifteen hours without intervention.
The product has grown almost entirely by word of mouth over its first seven months, and users have run more than 4.5 million actions through it across research, recruiting, sales, operations, marketing, and more. Polar significantly outperforms OpenAI and Anthropic on browser-agent benchmarks.
"Almost all knowledge work runs through the browser, and until now nothing could do that work for you," said Kevin Jiang, co-founder and CEO of Polar. "We built Polar to take the busywork off people's plates, on the sites they already use, so they can spend their time on the parts of the job that need a person."
Polar was founded by Kevin Jiang, Vishaal Ram, and Howard Zhong, a team with backgrounds from MIT, Perplexity, and leading quantitative funds.
"Engineers got a transformative moment from tools like Claude Code, and most knowledge workers are still waiting for theirs," said Sabrina Albert of Madrona, who led the investment. "Their work lives in the browser, and Kevin, Vishaal, and Howard built the first agent that can operate there. That is why we led the round."
Polar is available now at polarbrowser.com.
