New ambient AI scribe, agentic RCM AI, and EHR software modernization bring the AI-Powered Practice™ to GI with improved clinical, ASC, and revenue cycle workflows

BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ModMed®, a leading provider of AI-powered software and services for specialty medical practices, today announced the new ModMed gGastro® Suite, the result of a multi-year investment to embed AI across clinical documentation, ASC workflows, revenue cycle management, and practice operations for gastroenterology practices.

With a new AI ambient listening solution, new AI-powered RCM capabilities, a modernized user experience, and significant improvements to underlying software infrastructure, GI practices will be able to more easily reduce administrative burden, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen their financial performance.

“We’ve embedded new intelligence directly into the workflows that GI physicians and their teams use every day,” said Sam Cicogna, General Manager of Gastroenterology at ModMed. “The new ModMed gGastro Suite unifies clinic EHR, ASC, endoscopy report writer, practice management, and billing on a single ecosystem. Designed alongside practicing gastroenterologists, our new ModMed gGastro Suite allows providers to chart naturally, customize templates on the fly, and maintain complete control over their clinical documentation.”

Today, gastroenterology practices face mounting operational pressures, including rising costs, staffing constraints, and reimbursement pressure. For many practices, separate applications for office visits, endoscopy, practice management, and billing can create duplicate work, communication gaps, and delays that affect both staff efficiency and revenue performance. The new ModMed gGastro Suite is designed to streamline care delivery, elevate operational efficiency, and optimize financial performance within a single ecosystem designed exclusively for gastroenterology practices.

“gGastro has made my work-life balance much more efficient,” said Dr. Roger Kao, partner at the Digestive Care Medical Center in San Carlos, CA. “I am able to access both office visits and procedure notes together without needing to switch between different systems. I am able to practice medicine the way I intended to — focus on providing excellent medical care and not be burdened by an EHR.”

The original gGastro Suite included ModMed gGastro EHR, ModMed ASC, ModMed gPM™, and ModMed Patient Engagement. The new and expanded ModMed gGastro Suite will include ModMed Scribe and the ModMed RCM AI Platform, bringing ambient clinical documentation and AI-powered revenue-cycle capabilities to the broader gastroenterology ecosystem. Together, these capabilities create a more connected, GI-specific suite spanning the patient journey — from scheduling and clinical encounters through endoscopy, follow-up, billing, and practice performance.

The new ModMed gGastro Suite will help gastroenterology practices:

  • Reclaim provider and staff time by reducing documentation burden and repetitive administrative work.
  • Connect clinic and ASC workflows to reduce duplicate work and operational friction across care settings.
  • Modernize everyday workflows through ongoing interface and infrastructure improvements designed to make the platform more intuitive, responsive, and efficient.
  • Improve patient coordination through digital communications and engagement workflows that help practices stay connected with patients before, during, and after care.
  • Protect revenue and reduce the cost to collect through AI-powered revenue cycle workflows designed to prevent denials, automate manual follow-up, and accelerate resolution.

Bringing More AI Capabilities Into the GI Workflow

This continued investment in the GI portfolio advances ModMed’s vision for the AI-Powered Practice™ in gastroenterology by expanding AI capabilities across clinical and financial workflows while modernizing the ModMed gGastro Suite experience. A key area of investment is ModMed Scribe, ModMed’s AI-powered clinical documentation solution integrated directly with ModMed gGastro EHR.

ModMed Scribe helps capture natural patient-provider conversations, suggest structured clinical notes and diagnoses codes, and help automate downstream workflows such as prescriptions, lab orders, and patient education. By expanding the ambient AI capabilities within the existing GI workflow, ModMed aims to reduce the documentation burden while helping physicians remain focused on the patient. These new capabilities are expected to be generally available in early 2027.

“ModMed Scribe seamlessly integrates with our gGastro EHR, enhancing the efficiency and timeliness of our providers’ notes,” said Tasha Cieslak, CEO of The Gastro Clinic in Louisiana. “Thanks to its ease of use, one provider has increased patient visits by 10%, while another has experienced an improved quality of life, benefiting from the time saved on documentation.”

ModMed is extending its AI investment in GI beyond the clinical encounter and into the revenue cycle. Through the ModMed RCM AI Platform, specialized agentic AI is designed to help GI practices optimize financial performance by reducing denials, accelerating reimbursement efficiency, and lowering the cost to collect. Preliminary internal analysis has shown the ModMed RCM AI Platform helps reduce manual accounts receivable follow-up activities, highlighting the potential for AI to remove significant repetitive work from the revenue cycle. General availability of the ModMed RCM AI Platform is planned for 2027.

Connecting the GI Clinic and ASC

Another major focus of ModMed’s continued investment is reducing the friction between what happens in the physician’s office and what happens in the ASC.

GI practices often rely on separate systems for clinic documentation, endoscopy reporting, and practice management, creating opportunities for duplicate data entry, workflow delays, and discrepancies between clinical documentation and billing.

ModMed ASC, including its native Endoscopy Report Writer, connects procedural workflows with the broader ModMed gGastro ecosystem, helping clinical, procedural, and financial information move more seamlessly across care settings.

That connected approach extends across ModMed gGastro EHR, ModMed ASC, gPM, and revenue cycle workflows, helping practices maintain greater continuity from the initial office visit through procedure documentation, billing, and follow-up. Rather than requiring gastroenterology practices to stitch together standalone clinical, endoscopy, practice management, and billing technologies, the ModMed gGastro Suite provides a connected foundation designed specifically around the way GI practices and ASCs operate.

Continuous Investment Meets Intuitive Workflows

ModMed’s commitment to gastroenterology also extends beyond AI and workflow connectivity to the ongoing enhancement of the ModMed gGastro Suite experience itself.

ModMed is actively rolling out significant user interface and infrastructure upgrades across the ModMed gGastro Suite ecosystem, designed to create a more modern, intuitive, and responsive experience for GI practices.

GI practices are expected to experience the first enhanced workflow this month through an updated My Activities dashboard, featuring auto-refreshing scheduling capabilities and additional layout control. Additional enhancements will include redesigned provider service documentation screens by the end of the year, with broader environment updates expected to be completed in Q1 2027.

These improvements are intended to simplify everyday interactions with the platform, reduce workflow friction, and strengthen the foundation for ModMed’s continued investment in AI-powered capabilities across gastroenterology.

Extending the Connected Experience to Patients

The ModMed gGastro Suite also extends intelligence and connectivity across the patient experience.

ModMed Patient Engagement helps practices coordinate digital communications, intake, reminders, and other patient interactions throughout the care journey — important capabilities for GI practices working to reduce front-office workload and improve patient readiness for procedures.
