Cota Capital Welcomes Daniel Karp as Partner
Enterprise technology investor and former operator brings expertise across AI infrastructure, cybersecurity, networking, silicon, and developer tools
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Cota Capital, an investment firm focused on early-stage technology companies addressing Net New challenges in the enterprise, today announced that Daniel Karp has joined the firm as a Partner. Karp will focus on backing technical founding teams building the next generation of enterprise infrastructure, from company inception through scale.
Karp brings a combination of venture investing, corporate development, product, engineering, and hands-on company-building experience spanning the infrastructure technology stack. His investment focus includes cloud- and AI-native infrastructure, cybersecurity, networking, silicon, optics, data management, and developer tools.
His investment approach aligns closely with Cota’s focus on Net New technologies. As paradigm shifts reshape the enterprise, they create entirely new challenges and opportunities that require new technological approaches. Cota partners with visionary founders who recognize these inflection points early and build transformative solutions to problems that were previously impossible to solve or did not exist before.
“I have known Daniel for years and have had the opportunity to collaborate on a number of investments,” said Bobby Yazdani, Founder and Managing Partner of Cota Capital. “I’ve seen firsthand his technical depth, investment judgment, and commitment to founders. He has spent his career at the intersection of foundational technology and company building, and his expertise across infrastructure markets will further strengthen our ability to identify and support exceptional technical founders at the earliest stages. We are thrilled to welcome him to Cota.”
Prior to joining Cota, Daniel was a General Partner at Cervin Ventures, where he focused on early-stage enterprise software investments. Previously, Daniel was a member of Cisco’s Investments and M&A team, where he worked on investments and acquisitions across networking, cloud, and data centers. He also held business development and product management roles at Microsoft, including with the Azure team and Microsoft’s Startup Business Group.
Daniel began his venture capital career at Amiti Ventures, where he focused on semiconductor and cybersecurity investments. Earlier in his career, he worked as an ASIC engineer developing mobile baseband infrastructure and flash memory controllers.
“Cota has built a distinctive platform for identifying transformative technologies early and working closely with founders as they turn ambitious technical ideas into enduring companies,” said Daniel Karp, Partner at Cota Capital. “We are witnessing a cycle in which the canonical companies of the future are being created. I’m excited to join the team and partner with exceptional founders building the infrastructure that will underpin the next generation of enterprise computing and AI.”
