Ceremony will mark 20th Anniversary of Westray Law

E-mailNEW GLASGOW, Nova Scotia--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Twenty years after the enactment of the Westray Law that holds corporations criminally responsible for workplace deaths and injuries, the struggle continues.
At the end of March, 2004, 12 years after the tragic, needless and preventable deaths of 26 miners in the Westray Mine explosion in 1992, important amendments to the Criminal Code of Canada were enacted.
Members of the Westray Families Group, and representatives of local and national labour organizations gather to mark the Westray Law’s anniversary and call for renewed action to end workplace deaths and injuries.
No one should die just for going to work.
