XXIX Metal adds Nouveau Monde founder Desaulniers to its board
XXIX Metal Corp. (TSXV: XXIX) (OTCQB: QCCUF) has appointed Éric Desaulniers, founder, president, and chief executive officer of Nouveau Monde Graphite Inc., to its board of directors, according to a company statement.
Desaulniers, a professional geologist and geophysicist, discovered the Matawinie graphite deposit in Quebec and led Nouveau Monde through exploration, development, and construction of a vertically integrated graphite mining and battery materials business. Under his leadership, Nouveau Monde secured more than $640 million in project financing.
XXIX said it intends to draw on Desaulniers' experience permitting and developing mining projects in Quebec, including his work on social license considerations and engagement with First Nations communities, as the company advances its Quebec and Ontario copper assets.
The appointment is subject to final approval by the TSX Venture Exchange. In connection with the appointment, XXIX's board has also granted Desaulniers stock options allowing for the acquisition of up to 750,000 shares, exercisable at CAD $0.11 per share for five years from the date of grant. The options vest one year from the date of grant and are also subject to regulatory approval.
XXIX is developing the Opemiska copper project in Quebec's Chapais-Chibougamau region and the Thierry copper project in Ontario.
