United Fire Group appoints Gilda Spencer to board of directors

United Fire Group Inc. (NASDAQ: UFCS) announced the appointment of Gilda L. Spencer as an independent director to its board, effective August 15, 2025. Spencer will serve as a Class A director on the risk management and compensation and human capital committees.
Spencer currently works as an adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. From 2012 to 2021, she served as senior vice president and deputy general counsel of dispute resolution services at Allstate, where she led a team of 60 associates managing the company's litigation portfolio. Previously, she held the position of vice president and chief litigation counsel at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company starting in 2001. Before her insurance industry career, Spencer worked as an assistant United States attorney for the Southern District of Ohio.

"Gilda's decades of legal and insurance experience will be a tremendous asset to the board as we work together to position the company for success and deliver long-term value to our shareholders."
Spencer earned a bachelor's degree in political science from The Ohio State University and received her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she served as president of the Black Law Students Association.
With Spencer's addition, the UFG board will consist of 12 members. The company, founded in 1946, provides property and casualty insurance through its subsidiaries and operates in all 50 states and the District of Columbia through approximately 1,000 independent agencies.
