United Community Banks names Carl Carande to its board

United Community Banks, Inc. (NYSE: UCB) has appointed Carl S. Carande to its board of directors, the Greenville, S.C.-based company announced.
Carande brings 40 years of experience in financial services and consulting. He spent 25 years at KPMG LLP, where he held senior roles including Global Head of Advisory and U.S. Advisory Vice Chair. At KPMG, he rebuilt the firm's Southeast Advisory practice and developed a Business Integration Risk Management offering focused on post-merger execution and operational risk.
Before joining KPMG, Carande served as global director of corporate cash management pricing and analysis at Bank of America, where he oversaw a pricing and analysis function tied to a cash-management product suite that generated $1.4 billion in revenue.
"Carl is a highly respected leader in the financial industry and will further strengthen United's experienced Board of Directors," said Chairman and CEO Lynn Harton.
Lead Director Thomas Richlovsky noted that Carande "has advised financial institutions and multinational companies on complex integrations, enterprise risk, and performance improvement throughout his career."
Carande holds a Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University and a Bachelor of Science in organizational systems design from California State University, Northridge.
As of June 30, 2026, United Community Banks had $29.1 billion in assets and operated 200 offices across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
