Southwest Airlines adds two executives to its board of directors

Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) has appointed Jason Liberty and Varun Krishna to its board of directors, effective immediately, according to a company statement.



Liberty is chairman and chief executive officer of Royal Caribbean Group, a position he has held since 2025. He previously served as chief executive officer of Royal Caribbean Group beginning in 2022 and as its chief financial officer for nine years prior. He also serves as chair of the Cruise Lines International Association.



Krishna is chief executive officer of Rocket Companies, a financial technology platform that includes Rocket Mortgage and Redfin. Before joining Rocket Companies, he held senior roles at Intuit, PayPal, Groupon, and Microsoft.



Doug Brooks, independent chair of the Southwest board, said in the statement that the two appointments bring "complementary experience leading complex, customer-focused companies through periods of growth, innovation, and transformation."



Bob Jordan, president, chief executive officer, and vice chairman of the Southwest board, said Liberty brings "travel industry, operational, and financial leadership experience," while Krishna contributes "deep expertise in digital products, innovation, and customer engagement."
