Solid Power adds BMW Group executive Uwe Breitweg to its board

Solid Power, Inc. (Nasdaq: SLDP) announced the appointment of Uwe Breitweg to its board of directors, effective July 1, 2026, according to a press release from the company.
Breitweg currently serves as Vice President of Powertrain, Emission and Battery Strategy at the BMW Group, a position he has held since 2021. From 2016 to 2021, he served as Vice President of Powertrain Systems Industrial Customers at the same company.
The appointment was made pursuant to BMW Holding B.V.'s director nomination rights, reflecting BMW's existing relationship with Solid Power as a strategic development partner.
John Van Scoter, President and CEO of Solid Power, said in a statement: "His perspective will be invaluable as we continue to advance our solid-state technology and execute our strategy with automotive and cell manufacturing partners around the world." Van Scoter also acknowledged the departure of a prior board member, noting: "I would also like to thank Dr. Feurer for his dedicated service and many contributions to Solid Power during his tenure on the board."
Solid Power is a Louisville, Colorado-based developer of solid-state battery technology. The company's business model centers on selling electrolyte material to cell manufacturers and licensing its cell designs and manufacturing processes.
