SecureTech nominates Robert Castro to board of directors
SecureTech Innovations Inc. (OTCQB: SCTH) announced the nomination of Robert V. Castro to serve as an independent director and member of the company's audit, compensation, and nomination committees.
Castro brings more than 40 years of audit, tax, and business advisory experience. He spent the majority of his career at BDO Seidman, LLP (now BDO USA, LLP), where he served as a retired audit partner. In 1994, he was named BDO's first Managing Partner of the firm's Financial Services Group.
Under Castro's leadership, the Financial Services Group grew to more than 100 professionals. The group was recognized by Institutional Investor's Alpha magazine as the best accounting firm serving the hedge fund industry on two occasions.
Throughout his career, Castro served broker-dealers, investment advisers, investment partnerships, business development companies, and specialty finance companies. His client roster included firms such as Renaissance Technologies, Greenlight Capital, Lord Abbett, Fred Alger & Company, and York Capital.
Castro has served as a financial expert in legal matters involving Bear Stearns, Ames Department Stores, and several Big Four accounting firms in connection with cases including Madoff, Manhattan Fund, and Refco. He has provided expert testimony before the SEC, FINRA, and the CFTC.
Castro currently serves as a professor at Hofstra University and in the CUNY system, teaching various accounting courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Long Island University and is a CPA and CGMA.
"Bob's career represents over forty years at the very top of the accounting profession," said J. Scott Sitra, SecureTech's president and chief executive officer.
Castro's nomination is part of SecureTech's initiative to attract experienced independent leaders to its board. The company plans to announce its third and final director nominee in the coming days.
