Revelation Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: REVB) announced the addition of two medical experts to its Acute Kidney Injury Advisory Board ahead of a planned Phase 2/3 clinical trial for its drug candidate Gemini.
The company added Dr. Peter Pickkers, Professor of Intensive Care Medicine at Radboud University Medical Center in the Netherlands, and Dr. Lui Forni, Professor of intensive care medicine at Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Both physicians specialize in nephrology and critical care medicine.
Dr. Pickkers focuses his research on immune response modulation, sepsis, and organ dysfunction, particularly kidney-related conditions. He has supervised 28 doctoral candidates and leads research using human inflammation models. Dr. Forni's research interests include acute kidney injury diagnosis and treatment, renal replacement therapy, and predictive modeling in acute medical cases.
The advisory board will guide the company's clinical strategy for Gemini, a proprietary formulation of phosphorylated hexaacyl disaccharide that acts as a toll-like receptor 4 agonist. The drug candidate is designed to rebalance immune response and treat diseases associated with dysregulated inflammation.
Revelation is developing Gemini for multiple conditions including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, post-surgical infection prevention, and treatment of hyperinflammation associated with severe burns. The company has completed two Phase 1 clinical studies for the drug candidate.
The San Diego-based clinical-stage life sciences company focuses on developing treatments that rebalance inflammation using its Gemini formulation across multiple therapeutic areas.
