Phio Pharmaceuticals Corp. (NASDAQ: PHIO) appointed David H. Deming as lead independent director of its board of directors, according to a company statement.
Deming brings over 30 years of experience in investment banking and asset management to the role. He spent more than 27 years at JP Morgan, including 12 years leading the Health Group in investment banking. Deming joined Phio's board of directors in February 2025 and serves on the board's nominating committee.
"Mr. Deming's extensive experience in the biopharma sector, both through his investment banking career and service on a number of corporate boards, provides a valuable resource to Phio as we advance our gene silencing technology with the goal of eliminating cancer," said Robert Bitterman, CEO and chairman of the board.
Phio Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage siRNA biopharmaceutical company developing therapeutics using its INTASYL gene silencing technology. The company's lead clinical program is PH-762, which silences the PD-1 gene and is being evaluated in a Phase 1b trial for cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma and Merkel cell carcinoma.
The ongoing Phase 1b trial carries the identifier NCT# 06014086 and is examining PH-762 as a potential non-surgical treatment for skin cancers.
