PepsiCo, Inc. (NASDAQ: PEP) has elected Joaquin Duato, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson & Johnson, as an independent member of its Board of Directors, according to a company statement.
Duato, 64, will join the board effective December 1, 2026, and will serve on the Audit Committee.
Duato has served as Chairman and CEO of Johnson & Johnson since 2023 and 2022, respectively. He joined Johnson & Johnson in 1989 and previously held the roles of Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee from 2018 to 2021 and Worldwide Chairman, Pharmaceuticals from 2011 to 2018.
PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Ramon Laguarta said Duato's experience in "strategic transformation, portfolio optimization and innovation" at Johnson & Johnson, across pharmaceuticals, consumer health, and technology, would benefit the board.
Robert C. Pohlad, Chair of the Board's Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, cited Duato's background in overseeing large global organizations in regulated markets, as well as his experience in risk oversight and operational resilience.
