Parabilis Medicines adds former J&J oncology executive to board

Parabilis Medicines (Nasdaq: PBLS) announced the appointment of Craig L. Tendler, M.D., to its board of directors, according to a company statement. Dr. Tendler previously served as Global Head of Late-Stage Clinical Development and Global Medical Affairs for Oncology at Johnson & Johnson, where he spent two decades.

Dr. Tendler brings more than 30 years of experience in oncology drug development and medical affairs. During his tenure at Johnson & Johnson, he was involved in securing more than 30 oncology regulatory approvals, 13 FDA Breakthrough Therapy designations, and approvals for 15 New Molecular Entities. The approvals spanned treatments for prostate cancer, hematologic malignancies, lung cancer, and bladder cancer.

He also played a role in major business development transactions at Johnson & Johnson, including acquisitions of Cougar Biotechnology, Aragon Pharmaceuticals, and Taris Biomedical, as well as co-development partnerships with Legend Biotech, Pharmacyclics, and Genmab.

Before joining Johnson & Johnson, Dr. Tendler spent nearly a decade at the Schering-Plough Research Institute. Earlier in his career, he served as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and was a research fellow at the National Cancer Institute. He currently holds an adjunct faculty position at Mount Sinai and serves on the boards of TuHURA Biosciences and Predicta Biosciences. He is also an alternate industry representative to the FDA's Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee.

Dr. Tendler had previously served as a scientific advisor to Parabilis Medicines, a role he will continue alongside his board responsibilities. Parabilis is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company based in Cambridge, Mass., focused on developing treatments for serious diseases. Its lead investigational medicine, zolucatetide, is being evaluated across multiple oncology indications including desmoid tumors, hepatocellular carcinoma, and familial adenomatous polyposis.
