Palladyne AI Corp. (NASDAQ: PDYN) has appointed retired Maj. Gen. Mark A. "Droopy" Clark to its Defense Advisory Board, according to a company statement.

Clark previously commanded Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) and served as Director of Operations and Chief of Staff at U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).

"Special operations forces operate in environments where complexity, time pressure, and communications constraints are the norm," Clark said. "The next generation of autonomous systems must make small teams more effective without adding complexity for the operator."

Ben Wolff, President and Chief Executive Officer of Palladyne AI, said the company is "building a vertically integrated capability for the U.S. Department of War that includes collaborative autonomy, the systems and munitions it commands, and the American manufacturing base behind them."

Clark joins other retired general and flag officers already serving on the board. Palladyne AI's defense portfolio includes SwarmOS, its collaborative autonomy software, along with the Gremlin-X reusable mini-bomber, the SwarmStrike autonomous precision-strike platform, and loitering munitions including HARPY, HAROP, and Mini HARPY, which the company plans to manufacture and integrate through a partnership with Israel Aerospace Industries.
