Pagaya Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: PGY) has appointed Jason Gardner, founder and former chief executive of Marqeta Inc., to its board of directors. The appointment was confirmed at the company's annual meeting in August, according to a press release.
Gardner brings more than 25 years of experience in the technology and payments industries. He founded Marqeta in 2010 and served as its CEO until 2023, leading the company through its initial public offering in 2021. He then served as executive chair from 2023 to 2024 and currently holds a director role and chairs Marqeta's Payments Innovation Committee.
Before Marqeta, Gardner founded PropertyBridge, a payment platform acquired by MoneyGram International in 2007, and Vertical Think, an IT management company. He also previously served as director of sales for the 451 Group, now part of S&P Global.
"I am honored to join Pagaya's Board of Directors during such a pivotal inflection point in the company's growth," Gardner said in the statement.
Gal Krubiner, co-founder and CEO of Pagaya, said Gardner's background in scaling infrastructure platforms and product innovation would support the company's efforts to expand its partner network.
