Onconetix subsidiary adds Proteomedix co-founder to its board
Onconetix, Inc. (Nasdaq: ONCO) announced that its Swiss subsidiary, Proteomedix AG, has appointed Ralph Schiess, PhD, to its board of directors. The appointment was approved at the Proteomedix Annual General Meeting of Shareholders held on June 22, 2026. At the same meeting, Thomas Meier, PhD, was re-elected to serve an additional one-year term as chairman of the board.
Schiess is a co-founder of Proteomedix AG and co-developer of Proclarix®, a CE-IVD certified prostate cancer diagnostic blood test developed at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich). He currently serves as founding chief executive officer of ZH3D (Zurich Hub for Drug and Device Development) at the University of Zürich.
Schiess previously served as CEO and co-founder of Proteomedix AG, where he led efforts to identify biomarker signatures for prostate cancer diagnosis. Proteomedix was acquired by Onconetix in December 2023. He holds a Master of Science from the University of Zürich and a Doctorate in Science from ETH Zürich.
Beat Rheiner, PhD, chief executive officer of Proteomedix AG, said in a statement: "As a co-founder and the original architect of Proclarix®, Ralph brings a depth of scientific and commercial knowledge that is unmatched."
Proclarix® is approved for sale in the European Union under the IVDR. Onconetix has a license agreement with Labcorp through which it anticipates marketing the test in the U.S. as a lab developed test.
