OKYO Pharma Limited (NASDAQ: OKYO) announced it will hold a Scientific Advisory Board meeting and present clinical data for its lead drug candidate urcosimod during the 2026 American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

Dr. Pedram Hamrah, Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida and principal investigator of the urcosimod Phase 2 study, will present a paper titled "Evaluation of Urcosimod in Neuropathic Corneal Pain: Efficacy and Safety Results from a Proof-of-Concept Pilot Phase 2 Study" on April 11, 2026, during the conference's Ocular Surface Disease II session.

The company will also convene its Scientific Advisory Board meeting with ophthalmology experts to review clinical data and provide guidance on the upcoming clinical program. OKYO plans to initiate a 150-patient Phase 2b/3 multiple-dose study of urcosimod for neuropathic corneal pain in the first half of 2026.

Urcosimod is a lipid conjugated chemerin peptide agonist designed to treat neuropathic corneal pain, a chronic condition characterized by severe eye pain and sensitivity. The drug candidate has received Fast Track designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and represents the first investigational therapy to receive an IND specifically for neuropathic corneal pain treatment.

The company recently reported positive data from a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-masked Phase 2 trial involving 18 neuropathic corneal pain patients. Urcosimod previously demonstrated statistical significance in multiple endpoints in a 240-patient Phase 2 trial for dry eye disease treatment.

There are currently no FDA-approved therapies specifically for neuropathic corneal pain, according to the company's statement.
