NovaRed Mining Inc. (CSE: NRED) (OTCQB: NREDF) has appointed Lee Evan Caplin to its advisory board as the company works to commercialize its MetalCore AI platform for mineral exploration, according to a press release.

Caplin is an attorney, entrepreneur, and media executive with more than four decades of experience in intellectual property, technology commercialization, and strategic partnerships. He is the founder and chairman of Picture Entertainment Corporation and a co-founder of the predecessor to Penske Media Corporation, which owns brands including Variety and Rolling Stone.

His entertainment credits include serving as executive producer of Sony Pictures' Academy Award-nominated film Ali and producer of HBO's Emmy Award-winning series True Detective. He also chairs iSTAR Enterprises, LLC, the venture behind Florida International University's Immersive Studio for Altered Reality.

Caplin made a $10 million philanthropic contribution to establish the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media at Florida International University, described as one of the largest gifts to a journalism program within Florida's state university system.

NovaRed describes its MetalCore AI platform as using artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and predictive analytics to support mineral exploration and geological interpretation. The company is also pursuing strategic technology partnerships and acquisitions for the mining sector.

Chief Executive Officer Brian Gross said Caplin's background in technology commercialization and intellectual property aligns with the company's plans for MetalCore AI.

NovaRed is a mineral exploration company focused on copper-gold porphyry projects in British Columbia. Its optioned Wilmac project covers 16,078 hectares in the Similkameen Mining Division, southwest of Princeton.
