North West Company reports quarterly dividend, director appointment
The North West Company Inc. (TSX: NWC) reported fourth quarter earnings ended January 31, 2026 and declared a quarterly dividend of $0.41 per share, according to a company statement.
The dividend will be paid April 24, 2026 to shareholders of record on April 15, 2026. This represents an increase from the $0.40 per share dividend paid in the same quarter last year.
Fourth quarter sales increased 0.1% to $675.5 million compared to $674.9 million in the prior year period. Net earnings attributable to shareholders decreased to $37.5 million from $41.1 million, while diluted earnings per share fell to $0.78 from $0.85.
For the full year, sales rose 0.8% to $2.598 billion from $2.576 billion. Annual net earnings attributable to shareholders increased to $139.5 million from $137.3 million, with diluted earnings per share of $2.87 compared to $2.83.
The company appointed Paul Soubry to its board of directors effective April 8, 2026. Soubry previously served as president and chief executive officer of NFI Group Inc. from January 2009 to January 2026.
North West also announced it refinanced its CAD$400 million and US$52 million revolving loan facilities with existing lenders. The facilities now mature April 8, 2031, extending from the previous March 1, 2027 maturity date.
The company operates retail stores in northern Canada, rural Alaska, the South Pacific and the Caribbean under various trading names including Northern, NorthMart, Alaska Commercial Company and Cost-U-Less.
