Nobel laureate Carolyn Bertozzi rejoins Eli Lilly board

Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) announced that its board of directors elected Carolyn R. Bertozzi, Ph.D., as a returning member effective December 8. Bertozzi will serve on the board's Science and Technology and Ethics and Compliance committees.
Bertozzi previously served on Lilly's board from 2017 to 2021. She currently holds the position of Baker Family director of Sarafan ChEM-H and Anne T. and Robert M. Bass professor in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University, where she also serves as professor of Chemical and Systems Biology and Radiology. She is an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
The Nobel Prize-winning chemist has received recognition for her research accomplishments and is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences and American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
"Carolyn is a Nobel Prize-winning chemist whose work has fundamentally changed how we think about developing targeted medicines, particularly in cancer," said David A. Ricks, Lilly chair and CEO. "As we continue to pioneer new approaches in oncology and immunology, her perspective will be invaluable."
The appointment comes as the pharmaceutical company continues its work in oncology and immunology research and development.
