NNN REIT, Inc. (NYSE: NNN) announced that Christina Chiu and Charles "Chaz" D. Mueller Jr. will join its board of directors, effective Oct. 1, 2026. The additions are part of a planned board succession ahead of Betsy D. Holden's retirement from the board on Feb. 19, 2027, according to a press release.
Chiu is currently president of Empire State Realty Trust, a publicly traded REIT focused on office, retail, and multifamily properties in the New York metropolitan area. Before joining that company in 2020, she spent nearly 18 years at Morgan Stanley, most recently as managing director and chief operating officer of the Global Listed Real Assets Investing business. She holds a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from NYU Stern School of Business.
Mueller serves on the board of trustees of Vivmark Residential, formed in 2026 through the merger of AvalonBay Communities and Equity Residential. He previously served on AvalonBay's board beginning in 2022 and most recently held the role of chief executive officer of Progress Residential before retiring in 2021. He also previously served as president of Irvine Company Apartment Communities and as president, chief operating officer, and chief financial officer of Archstone Communities. Mueller holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and Southern Methodist University.
Edward J. Fritsch, chair of the board, said the two were identified following an extensive search to address recent and pending board retirements. Steve Horn, chief executive officer, noted that both bring public REIT and board experience along with real estate backgrounds.
As of June 30, 2026, NNN owned 3,774 properties across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, totaling approximately 40.4 million square feet of gross leasable area, with a weighted average remaining lease term of 10.1 years.
