Mikael Dolsten has withdrawn his candidacy for Novo Nordisk's (NYSE: NVO) Board of Directors due to personal circumstances, the Danish pharmaceutical company announced.
Dolsten, who previously served as Head of Research and Development at Pfizer, informed Novo Nordisk that he would not seek election at the extraordinary general meeting scheduled for November 14, 2025. The company stated his decision was unrelated to Novo Nordisk A/S or the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
The Novo Nordisk Foundation and Novo Holdings A/S will not propose an alternative candidate to replace Dolsten at the November meeting. Instead, they plan for the incoming board to identify and nominate two additional candidates, along with already nominated Helena Saxon, for election at the Annual General Meeting on March 26, 2026.
Other board candidates scheduled for the November 14 extraordinary general meeting remain unchanged from the October 21 convening notice.
Following the November meeting, the Board of Directors will consist of nine members if all proposed candidates are elected. Shareholder-elected members will include Lars Rebien Sørensen as Chair, Cees de Jong as Vice Chair, Britt Meelby Jensen, Kasim Kutay and Stephan Engels. Employee-elected members will be Elisabeth Dahl Christensen, Liselotte Hyveled, Mette Bøjer Jensen and Thomas Rantzau.
