Lotus Tech appoints Joe Quan Zhang as new board chairman

Lotus Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: LOT) announced Joe Quan Zhang has been appointed as chairman of the board of directors and member of the compensation committee and nominating and corporate governance committee, effective June 3, 2026.



Zhang replaces Daniel Donghui Li, who stepped down from the board on May 31, 2026, due to personal reasons. Li had served as chairman since the company's inception in 2021.



Zhang serves as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group and has over a decade of board and executive leadership experience in corporate finance and strategic management. He joined Geely Holding in 2014 and has held positions including Deputy Chief Financial Officer, General Manager of the Financial Management Center, and Director of the Strategic Finance Center. Zhang holds a bachelor's degree in international accounting from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.



"This is an exciting time to be joining Lotus Tech. With the Focus 2030 strategy, the Company has a clear and ambitious roadmap, and I see enormous potential in the road ahead," Zhang said in a statement.



The leadership change occurs as Lotus Tech implements its Focus 2030 strategy aimed at strengthening its position as a global performance brand and developing a sustainable business model.



Chief Executive Officer Qingfeng Feng said Zhang's expertise in strategic management and global finance, along with his experience at Geely Holding, positions him to help lead the company's next phase of development.



Lotus Technology operates across the UK, EU and China, focusing on luxury electric vehicles and automotive technologies including electrification and digitalization.
