Kyverna Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: KYTX) announced the appointment of Sravan K. Emany and Andrew Miller to its board of directors. The clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company develops cell therapies for autoimmune diseases.

Emany will serve as audit committee chair, replacing Dan Spiegelman, who stepped down from the board. Emany currently serves as chief financial officer at Beam Therapeutics and previously held the CFO and chief operating officer roles at Ironwood Pharmaceuticals. He also worked as corporate vice president and chief strategy officer at Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corporation and spent time in investment banking at Bank of America and BofA Securities as a managing director in mergers and acquisitions.

Miller was founder and president of research and development at Karuna Therapeutics prior to its $14 billion acquisition by Bristol Myers Squibb in 2024. He was the lead inventor of Karuna's KarXT, now marketed as COBENFY for schizophrenia treatment. Miller previously served as chief operating officer, chief executive officer and board member at Karuna. He currently chairs the board at Progentos Therapeutics and advises Google Ventures, General Atlantic, Vida Ventures, Longwood Fund and the One Mind Foundation.

The company's lead therapy candidate, miv-cel, is an autologous CD19-targeting CAR T-cell therapy for B-cell-driven autoimmune diseases. Kyverna completed a registrational trial in stiff person syndrome and has an ongoing registrational trial for generalized myasthenia gravis.

Chief Executive Officer Warner Biddle said the appointments come at a pivotal moment in the company's evolution. Executive Chair Christi Shaw noted the additions strengthen the board as Kyverna enters its next growth phase.
