Keros Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: KROS) announced the appointment of Charles Newton to its board of directors, effective March 9, 2026.

Newton previously served as chief financial officer of Lyell Immunopharma Inc. from February 2021 until his retirement in September 2025. Before joining Lyell, he held managing director positions at Bank of America, Credit Suisse, and Morgan Stanley, focusing on healthcare investment banking. He currently serves on the boards of Novavax Inc. and Coherus Oncology Inc.

Newton holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Miami University and an MBA from The Tuck School at Dartmouth College.

Concurrent with Newton's appointment, Carl Gordon will step down as a director of the company on the same date, according to the press release.

Jean-Jacques Bienaimé, chair of the board, stated that Newton's healthcare finance expertise and experience with clinical program value inflection points will complement the board's existing skills as the company advances its pipeline.

Newton said he plans to leverage his biotechnology experience to oversee the company's clinical development of rinvatercept, also known as KER-065.

Keros is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing therapeutics for disorders linked to transforming growth factor-beta protein signaling dysfunction. The company's lead product candidate, rinvatercept, is being developed for Duchenne muscular dystrophy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis treatment.
