InMed Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: INM) appointed Neil Klompas to its board of directors, effective immediately, according to a company statement.
Klompas brings over 30 years of healthcare and biotechnology experience across operational, financial, and research functions. He served as a key executive at Zymeworks Inc. for more than 16 years, most recently as president and chief operating officer after serving as chief financial officer. During his tenure at Zymeworks, he helped scale the company from early-stage development into a multi-billion-dollar pharmaceutical company and led the company's 2017 initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange.
Klompas began his career at KPMG in Canada and the United States, advising on transactions across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices sectors. He currently serves as CEO of Augerex Life Science Corp and sits on the boards of NervGen Pharma and HTuO Biosciences.
"We are thrilled to welcome Neil to the Board. His broad executive leadership background, financial expertise, extensive capital markets experience, and proven track record in building a successful biotechnology company will be invaluable to InMed as we advance our programs through their next stages of development," said Andrew Hull, chairman of InMed's board.
Klompas said he was drawn to InMed by the strength of its science and team, particularly noting the company's INM-901 program for treating Alzheimer's disease.
InMed develops small molecule drug candidates targeting CB1/CB2 receptors for Alzheimer's, ocular and dermatological indications.
