Horizon Aircraft adds test pilot-astronaut Jameel Janjua to board

New Horizon Aircraft Ltd. (NASDAQ: HOVR) announced that test pilot-astronaut Jameel Janjua has joined its board of directors. The Toronto-based aerospace company develops hybrid electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft.

Janjua brings experience as an experimental test pilot with more than 5,500 hours flown across 65 aircraft types. He previously served as a fighter pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force and as an instructor at the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School. He currently works as a test pilot for Virgin Galactic.

The new board member holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada, a Master of Science from MIT in Aeronautics, and an MBA from The Wharton School. His background includes leadership roles in space missions and billion-dollar aerospace programs, along with advisory positions at aerospace startups.

"The Cavorite X7 has the ability to provide enhanced solutions for both civilian and military missions, and by joining the Board I can help ensure our business execution strategy is tightly aligned with delivering the safest possible certified aircraft," Janjua stated.

Horizon Aircraft Co-Founder and CEO Brandon Robinson said Janjua's appointment would help the company develop the Cavorite X7 as the company builds its full-scale prototype and prepares for the aircraft certification process.

The company describes its hybrid electric vehicle as designed to fly most missions like conventional aircraft while offering vertical take-off and landing capabilities. Horizon Aircraft aims to serve regional operators, emergency service providers, and military customers.
