Heidmar Maritime appoints Jagmeet Makkar as independent director

Heidmar Maritime Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: HMR) appointed Jagmeet Makkar as independent non-executive director, effective February 16, 2025. The Athens-based maritime company announced the appointment on February 18.

Makkar brings over 40 years of experience in shipping operations, commercial management, and risk management. He will serve on the company's audit committee and meets independence requirements under Nasdaq listing standards and SEC rules.

The new director has worked as faculty member and mentor at maritime institutions worldwide, contributing to executive education and professional training programs. No arrangements or understandings existed between Makkar and other parties regarding his selection as director.

Heidmar operates as a commercial and pool management business serving the crude and product tanker market. The company maintains operations in Athens, London, Singapore, Chennai, Hong Kong and Dubai. The firm is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

The company provides vessel owners maritime services in crude oil and refined petroleum products shipping sectors. Heidmar focuses on commercial transportation services and vessel management for tanker market customers.
