Hallador Energy Company (NASDAQ: HNRG) appointed Daniel Hudson to its board of directors effective March 6, expanding the board to seven members. The company also promoted Heath Lovell to chief operating officer on the same date.
Hudson brings over 30 years of experience in power generation and energy infrastructure. He has led transactions worth more than $35 billion in energy asset acquisitions, financings and restructurings throughout his career. Hudson currently serves as chairman and CEO of Woodlands Energy Management, where he advises on power and energy investments.
Hudson previously held leadership positions at Duke Energy, NRG Energy, Xcel Energy/Northern States Power and Navigant Corporation. He has provided board oversight for portfolios representing more than 10,000 MW of thermal generation capacity and led multi-gigawatt power portfolios across competitive markets.
"Daniel's deep experience in power generation, large-scale M&A, capital markets, and power asset optimization directly aligns with Hallador's strategic focus on expanding and strengthening our generation platform," said Brent Bilsland, president and CEO.
Hudson holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota.
Lovell has been with Hallador since 2022 and most recently served as president of Hallador Power Company and Sunrise Coal. He will continue in those roles alongside his new COO position. Before joining Hallador, Lovell was vice president at Alliance Coal overseeing operations in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky.
Lovell previously served as president of the Indiana Coal Council, Kentucky Coal Association and West Virginia Coal Association. He holds an MBA and bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky.
Hallador Energy is a vertically-integrated independent power producer based in Terre Haute, Indiana, operating the one-gigawatt Merom Generating Station through its power division and coal production through Sunrise Coal.
