H World Group appoints Yanjun Sun as independent director

H World Group Limited (NASDAQ: HTHT) announced the appointment of Yanjun Sun as an independent director of its board, effective July 28, 2026.

Sun brings experience from several global financial and investment firms. He served as group director of Jardine Matheson Limited and chairman of Jardine Matheson (China) Limited from June 2022 to September 2025. Prior to that role, he was a partner and co-head of China at TPG Capital from August 2011 to November 2018, and later served as a senior advisor to TPG until December 2020. Before joining TPG, Sun was a managing director at Goldman Sachs's Principal Investment Area from May 2006 to May 2011. He also held positions at Morgan Stanley, General Electric, and Citigroup.

Sun currently serves as an independent non-executive director of China National Building Material Company Limited (HKEX: 3323), a non-executive director of 1233 International Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., a non-executive director of Livi Bank, and an independent director of Market Technology Acquisition Corp.

Sun holds a bachelor's degree in international finance from Renmin University of China and an MBA with high distinction from the University of Michigan.

According to a press release, founder and executive chairman Qi Ji stated that Sun's experience will benefit H World's long-term growth. As of March 31, 2026, H World operated 13,215 hotels with 1,303,563 rooms across 21 countries.
