Gunnison Copper names ex-Hudbay COO to board, retires debt
Gunnison Copper Corp. (TSX: GCU) (OTCQB: GCUMF) has appointed Andre Lauzon, former Chief Operating Officer of Hudbay Minerals Inc., to its board of directors, the company said in a statement.
Lauzon brings more than 30 years of experience in mine development, construction, project optimization, permitting, and executive management. At Hudbay, he oversaw international operations, technical services, exploration, and major capital projects, including executive oversight of a $1.5 billion project entering construction and two additional greenfield development projects.
Lauzon previously led Hudbay's Arizona Business Unit, where he was involved in advancing the Rosemont and Copper World copper projects. He also directed a three-year, approximately $400 million capital program at Hudbay's Copper Mountain operation in British Columbia. From 2023 to 2026, he served as an independent director of Rupert Resources Ltd., chairing its Technical Committee during Rupert's acquisition by Agnico Eagle Mines Limited for approximately C$3 billion.
Craig Hallworth, President and CEO of Gunnison Copper, said in the statement: "Andre has an exceptional ability to look at a complex mining project, identify opportunities that others may not see, and develop practical solutions that can fundamentally improve its technical and economic potential."
Separately, Gunnison announced that a subsidiary of Triple Flag Precious Metals Corp. has converted the remaining $1.5 million principal amount outstanding under its convertible debenture at a conversion price of $0.19 per share, resulting in the issuance of 7,894,736 common shares. Triple Flag also converted $545,753 of accrued interest into 1,641,193 common shares, based on the volume-weighted average trading price on the Toronto Stock Exchange for the five trading days preceding September 30, 2026.
Following the conversion, Gunnison states it has no remaining outstanding debt.
