GoldQuest Mining adds veteran mining engineer to its board

GoldQuest Mining Corp. (TSXV: GQC) (OTCQX: GDQMF) has appointed Martin Wafforn to its board of directors, the company announced in a press release.

Wafforn is a professional mining engineer with more than 40 years of experience in the mining industry. He most recently served as Senior Vice President of Technical Services and Process Optimization at Pan American Silver, where he spent over 20 years in progressively senior roles. His responsibilities included mine engineering, geotechnical engineering, metallurgy, and mineral resource management across Pan American's global operations. He led the preliminary economic assessment for the $1.9 billion La Colorada Skarn expansion project in Mexico and was involved in evaluating acquisitions including Tahoe Resources and Yamana Gold.

Before Pan American Silver, Wafforn held senior roles at Barrick Gold and Homestake Mining, including Mine Superintendent positions at the Eskay Creek and David Bell mines. He currently serves on the board of New Pacific Metals and as a Senior Technical Advisor to Pan American Silver. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining from the Camborne School of Mines in England.

The company also announced the grant of 1,100,000 stock options to certain directors and officers. The options carry an exercise price of $0.75 per common share, reflecting the closing market price on the TSX Venture Exchange on the trading day prior to the grant date. The options expire September 16, 2031, and vest in three equal installments: on the grant date, six months after, and one year after.

Additionally, GoldQuest's board approved the cancellation of 40,000 options previously granted in error to a former employee, in accordance with the company's Amended and Restated Stock Option Plan.
