Glucotrack appoints cardiologist David Hirsh as medical director
Glucotrack Inc. (NASDAQ: GCTK) announced the appointment of David S. Hirsh, MD, as Medical Director for Cardiology to its clinical advisory team. The medical device company develops glucose monitoring technologies for diabetes patients.
Dr. Hirsh will provide strategic leadership for clinical and educational initiatives related to Glucotrack's Continuous Blood Glucose Monitor (CBGM), according to a company statement. The device uses intravascular placement for glucose monitoring.
Since early 2025, Dr. Hirsh has served as a cardiac electrophysiologist at Harbin Clinical Cardiology Rome. He previously worked as an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine and as Director of Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at Grady Memorial Hospital, where he established the electrophysiology laboratory.
Dr. Hirsh completed his medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University and his residency and fellowships at New York University Medical Center, where he served as Chief Fellow in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.
"Glucotrack's approach of using proven cardiovascular implantation techniques for continuous blood glucose monitoring represents a breakthrough in diabetes care," Dr. Hirsh said in the statement.
The company's CBGM is designed as a long-term implantable system without wearable components, intended for up to three years of glucose monitoring. The device measures glucose directly from blood rather than interstitial fluid, which the company states aims to provide real-time readings without typical lag time.
Glucotrack is advancing the device through clinical trials, including a long-term early feasibility study outside the United States and an upcoming U.S. pilot study. The CBGM remains an investigational device limited to research use.
