Enliven Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELVN) announced the appointment of Scott Garland to its board of directors and the resignation of Andrew Phillips, Ph.D., effective January 7, 2026.
Garland brings over 30 years of commercial leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He currently serves as a venture advisor at Vida Ventures and as an advisor to Google Ventures. Previously, he served as chief executive officer at PACT Pharma, Inc. and as president and chief executive officer of Portola Pharmaceuticals Inc., leading the company through development, commercialization and its acquisition by Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Earlier in his career, Garland held positions at Relypsa, Inc., Exelixis, Inc., Genentech, Inc., Amgen Inc., and Merck & Co., Inc. He was involved in the launch or marketing of therapeutics including Avastin and Rituxan. He currently sits on the boards of LB Pharmaceuticals Inc., Day One Biopharmaceuticals, Inc., Olema Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and ALX Oncology Holdings Inc.
Phillips decided to step down as the company transitions its focus to late-stage development and commercialization. The board changes follow Enliven's reported positive clinical data for ELVN-001 in 2025 and the company's preparation for a planned Phase 3 trial initiation in 2026.
Enliven recently appointed Rick Fair as chief executive officer in December. The company is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on small molecule therapeutics, with ELVN-001 being developed for chronic myeloid leukemia treatment.
